Engagement Rate
Engagement rate is a metric that measures how actively involved an audience is with the content shared by an account. It's typically calculated by dividing the total number of engagements (likes, comments, shares, etc.) by the total number of followers or impressions, then multiplying by 100 to get a percentage.
Formula: Engagement Rate = (Total Engagements / Total Followers or Impressions) x 100
Why it's important:
- Indicates content relevance and audience interest
- Helps in understanding audience preferences
- Often valued more than follower count by marketers
- Can influence algorithm performance on social platforms
Note: Engagement rates can vary widely by platform and account size. Micro-influencers often have higher engagement rates than accounts with larger followings.
